I’m so sorry for being so stagnant with posting. Between schoolwork, New York Bridal Fashion Week, and getting sick, I haven’t had much time for anything!
Yesterday, was the biggest day of the year in the bridal world (at least for me). Why you ask? Because it was the day of Pnina Tornai’s runway show! This year’s theme was Wind Upon Water, which was inspired by how the sun reflects on the water and the wispyness of the wind. The silhouettes included ballgowns, mermaids, sheaths, a jumpsuit, and a cocktail dress, with pearl, clear crystal, white beading, fringe, and sheer and lace details. Pnina outdid herself for her 10th year designing for Kleinfeld Bridal, and there’s no doubt that this was her best collection to date. Even though I’ve been working for her for three years, I still get misty-eyed when I see her creations go down the runway. Each gown is truly a work of art and unmistakably Pnina. She knows how to be on trend and stay true to herself while really celebrating the female figure with curve-hugging silhouettes.
Today, I went to see dresses by Engardo Bonilla, who has a very classic look, designing mostly ballgowns made of tulle and lace.
I also had the chance to see the newest dresses from Zuhair Murad, who is known for his sheer gowns with strategically placed appliques and detachable skirts.
Next up was Reem Acra, who was showing blush linings, illusion lace, and tonal beading.
After visiting Reem’s showroom, we went to go see dresses by Leanne Marshall, who was the season 5 winner of Project Runway! She is known for her flowy silhouettes, bridal separates, and bohemian aesthetic. Leanne’s dresses are made in New York City by the designer herself and a small team.
Our last stop was back to Kleinfeld, where Mark Zunino was showing his 2016 collection which showcased dresses with black detailing.
Overall, I had a great time this year at NYBFW but I wish I didn’t have school so I could go to all of the shows! While Pnina is of course my favorite, I am a fashionista and wedding geek at heart, so I love to see what is coming to stores for the upcoming season. Before I know it, it will be time to get ready for Pnina’s 2017 collection! It will be hard to top this year’s collection, but I know she will. She always does.
